Suzanne is a full time free-lance artist currently making her home in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. She has shown her work in numerous venues throughout the U.S. and has sold pieces to private collectors here in the U.S. and in Europe. Her professional background includes illustrations for books, newsletters, advertising and most other print media.
She worked for a number of years in the marketing department of an international landscape design company and has in-depth experience in the decorative arts from furniture restoration to porcelain painting. For numerous years she and her husband owned and operated an antiques restoration business and bought and sold antiques through their own antiques shop.
Her early life was spent in Venezuela where she had wide exposure to artists and craftsmen in Caracas and throughout the Caribbean. After moving to the U.S. she studied art at Colorado State University and later with a number of independent teachers around the nation with a special interest in the old master's styles and techniques.
In her work she is striving for quietness, simplicity and balance. Even though a joyful effort goes into producing the paintings, her ideal is for the viewer to experience an effortless tranquility in the presence of these paintings. Fresh colors, clear lines and soft light help bring forward images intended to magnify the simple harmony of common objects standing against what is sometimes a chaotic and fast-paced modern world.
